Yankee Stadium for Army Football

I was a guest for the Army-Rutgers football game at Yankee Stadium this afternoon where I got the opportunity to cheer on not only the players but hundreds of our incredible young cadets as they joined for today's big event.

When the Army team hit the field the stadium erupted in cheers and the cadets, dressed dashingly in their blues, didn't sit down the entire game. A near-touchdown that stopped at one yard in the first two minutes got the game off to a hot start. Though they did not win, they played hard and cheered even harder. Almost as fun as the game was the time I spent snacking, chatting, and screaming alongside some of our nation's bravest young leaders. What can I say except...GO ARMY!!!

Thank you to the cadets for a wonderful afternoon and all my love in your adventures ahead!! Congratulations to the team and to rivals Rutgers University for a great game!

Happy Veterans Day!!

To all the men and women who served so bravely for the sake of our freedom, today is all about you!! It was an honor when my friends at the USO told me I had been requested for several appearances to celebrate this day. I could not say no, I love this job so much. And thus I was off on a 33 hour straight marathon of Veterans Day celebrations!

New Beginnings Veterans Day Ball
The night before the big day, we joined members and supporters of Long Island's New Beginnings Community Center for Brain Injury Rehabilitation to celebrate the many veterans who are part of their family. The disco themed night honored Jim and Carol Dunn. Jimmy suffered a TBI but despite limits to his motor and verbal capabilities had no shortage of spark, and his wife has helped him through every step. An absolute vision of love. The Bells were there to entertain!

COSMO Kisses For the Troops
Cosmopolitan Magazine and Maybelline New York has partnered with the USO to bring their card that will be sent overseas to military members for New Year's Eve. Because everyone deserves a kiss at midnight. Visitors to their Times Square booth get dolled up with Maybelline lipstick and leave a smooch and message on a post card. For every kiss, COSMO and Maybelline donated $1 to the USO! Packs of ladies came out to share a kiss and meet Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale, one of the day's celebrity guests. The Bells were on hand to assist and greet military members who came over for a hot coffee and some major attention from the crowd.

NASDAQ Closing Bell
In honor of Veterans Day, the Liberty Bells joined Cooking with the Troops to ring the closing bell. Cooking with the Troops is a charity that supports U.S. and Allied troops, their families, and caregivers worldwide. We joined several dozen military members for a pre-bell feast and then sang the anthem as WWII veteran Phil Perugini presided over the closing bell ceremonies. I can't believe this is my fifth time at the closing bell!

War Horse Veterans Day Benefit
USO joined up with Lincoln Center Theater, The National Theater and producer Bob Boyett for a special performance of Tony Winning Best Play War Horse. Net proceeds from tickets for tonight's show were donated to the USO. The show has captured hearts because of its story of the demands and pains of war, an issue not foreign to us over the past decade. The house was sold out and we helped collect cash donations during the evening, hearing so many patrons share their stories of connections to the USO. The emotional power of art will never cease to amaze me.

Thank you to everyone who participated in today's events and to the organizations who so beautifully supported the USO!!

I have been blessed with the privilege of working with the USO for three years now and have been given opportunities to volunteer all along the way. I've seen elderly veterans jump from their wheelchairs to dance their favorite Andrews Sisters tune, hugged a military wife as all five of her children hopped on brand new donated bicycles, and seen a marine with tears down his face watch from his base overseas as his wife gave birth to their new baby girl. The comforts and joys that this organization facilitates are immeasurable.

If you haven't yet, find out about getting involved in your local USO. The experiences you will have are well worth the time. This organization puts nearly $.90 to every dollar they receive back into programming, which is made possibly by the support of the thousands of volunteers that get involved each week. USO needs volunteers, because our military needs it's USO. God bless our Veterans and military!! Happy Veterans Day!

I have to thank the almost 3,000 individuals who have added their name to our petition. As we get closer to the new legislative year, the petition will provide you with two major elements in this fight:

- Updates on bill's progress as we watch it travel from start to finish, as well as information on education initiatives that are partnering with the bill.

- Information on additional petitions that will target specific legislators as we move the bill through committees. We will need your help to encourage lawmakers to give their support and will create sub-petitions for individual Senators so they can hear the voice of their people.

Join the movement. Add you voice and spread the word!!

Just got out of a private hedge fund dinner where I got to sit in and hear individuals from the upper ranks of such financial giants as Soros, UBS and Citi as they discussed the latest happenings in the global finance markets. Thanks to the team at Ali Ro for bringing me into your showroom today and fitting me into so many incredible dresses to wear this year! You definitely nailed the look I love!!

Ali Ro designs are simple yet energized and can easily transition from corporate board meetings to late night outings with just the change of an accessory. Now that's something that we New York girls embrace. Can't wait to show off the looks, thank you again to my chic new partner in fashion!

Presenting Medals at the New York City ING Marathon

Today I handed out awards at the ING New York City Marathon. As runners completed one of the world's most famous marathons I had the privilege of being the first to congratulate them at the finish line.

Runners came through in every sort of state; from giddily squealing their praises of the Big Apple to silently dragging themselves forward in a seemingly whirling sense of bewilderment at what they had just accomplished. No matter their state, I ran over to each and wrapped my arms around them in a complete disregard for the buckets of sweat I was absorbing. I slipped a medal over their head and got to spend a moment chatting before they were swept away by volunteers. By the time the main group was coming through I was throwing up high fives and snapping pictures left and right.

At one point a runner pointed to me across the crowd and shouted, "Pittsford!!" I screamed back, "WOO!" before realizing how crazy that was. How did he know where I was from? I tweeted about it and received a reply from him saying that I had taken a picture with his daughter this summer at my first ever appearance. Even in the middle of New York City the world can be small.

The volunteer beside me turned to me at one point and said, "Every river contributes to the grandeur of the ocean." If each runner today is a river, then their accomplishment today serves as proof of their powerful ability to contribute to the ocean we call society. If they can master their physical and mental self for this, then imagine what else they can do. Congratulations to all of the participants for their incredible work!! Thank you to the NYC Road Runners for letting me take part!

If I find pictures I will throw them up here, but unfortunately I was focused on the runners and unable to snap shots during the event. Keep tuned for photos!

Coast Guard Ball in Washington DC

I went south with the USO Liberty Bells to Washington DC and joined the USO for the U.S. Coast Guard Ball. The Liberty Bells had the privilege of performing at this annual event which is a black tie evening for our Coast Guard and their guests.

Throughout the night we entertained alongside the Coast Guard Silent Drill Team and watched as our Commander in Chief delivered a video address. We met hundreds of incredible service members and got to relax and hear their stories all evening. Thank you to our new friends and all our Coast Guardsmen for your incredible service and dedication to this country!! SEMPER PERATUS!! The USO loves you!!
